Explore the nature of the brain by investigating induced pluripotent stem cells and human behavior

We conduct research at the cellular level to investigate the function of nerve cells differentiated from induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells, with the aim of advancing brain research and regenerative medicine.

To understand the nature of the brain, we also investigate the relationship between the brain and behavior, by analyzing unconscious behavior in humans.

In the future, these results will be applied to health maintenance in the elderly and mental healthcare.

For applicants

If you hope to explore the mystery of the brain and neurons, we look forward to working with you.

We encourage approaches aimed at both the level of individual behavior and at the cellular level. Our research uses various measurement technologies such as the digital pen, light, and microelectrodes, but these are just tools. Our goal is to uncover the mystery of the brain/nervous system.

You will be expected to conduct and repeat experiments to gain a “new understanding,” similar to enlightenment. What we can do as individuals is limited; however, we can steadily advance with the goal of contributing to progress in scientific technology, and eventually to society.
